Why is the iphone so much less then the ipod touch?
I was at walmart the other day, just wandering around electronics.
I saw the iphone in display, and looked at the price: 167$.
And i go over to look at the ipod touch: about 250$.
Why is this? It seems they’re the same. Except for the fact that the iphone is also a phone.
Why is this?
I was thinking that to buy the iphone, you need to subscribe to a phone plan to get a cheaper price.
Is this the case?
EDIT: Everyone is telling me it’s because of the contract. And i thought that that was the case.
But what about this: Buying a iphone unofficially. So possibly you could bypass the contract.
the iPhone is subsidized by the cell phone provider. They sell you the phone at a loss (they actually pay more for the phone, than they sell it for you). They make the money back by locking you into a contract. Its the same for all cell phones. Thats why the phone gets cheaper, as the contract length increases.
