iPod Touch g3 and more

Why have the volume and track length on my ipod nano turned to dots?

When playing a track my nano used to display how much of the song has played or is left and when adjusting the volume the same. Now it just displays a line of dots. Is this a common problem and is there a way to adjust this back to normal? I have tried going back to default settings and this did nothing. Thanks.

Just press the middle buttom ’till the volume bar appears again. This is a way to rate your songs directly from your iPod. If you touch the wheel as if your putting the volume up, you’ll notice that there’ll appear stars, rating the song you’re playing.
